In this guide I will explain, how to Install and Overlay MSI Afterburner? This guide will help you to adjust and control your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). MSI Afterburner is overclocking software through which you can control your graphic cards. Its main function includes,

How to Install MSI Afterburner?

First of all you have to check its compatibility with your GPU. Although it is compatible with all GPU but you have to make sure it is Nvidia or AMD card manufacture (MSI, Gigabyte, and MSI) based.

Graphic card play an important role in MSI Afterburner that’s why, while choosing graphic card you have to make sure you choose the right graphic card. If you have chosen a lower version, it could end up limiting all those functions of MSI. Therefore you should choose the right graphic card for your PC. Make sure it is latest version.

Download and Install MSI Afterburner

Step 1: Go to https://msiafterburner.site/ and click on downloads.

Step 2: Download MSI Afterburner’s latest version.

Step 3: While installation you have to also install ‘RivaTuner’. It is overclocking software through which you can monitor hardware and freeware. You don’t need to worry about RivaTuner, because it will automatically install itself along MSI Afterburner.

Another point: Make sure to install Kombustor as well while installing MSI Afterburner Software.

Step 5: After successfully installation. You just need to restart your computer

Once you install MSI Afterburner, you will see an Icon on your screen. Just double tap and open it. Now you will see MSI Afterburner’s interface. This interface contains Voltage, GPU Clcok, Fan Speed, Memory Clock, Core Voltage, Temperature, Power Limit, Core Clock and Settings.

Settings: Settings includes General, Monitoring, On Screen Display, Benchmark and Screen Capture.

Monitoring: In monitoring tab you can check or uncheck GPU Usage, Memory Usage, CPU Temperature, CPU Clok and RAM Usage etc.

Now if you want to see an overlay, you need to run a game on RivaTuner server. You may find RivaTuner in “C:/Program files under RivaTuner Statistics Server. Just turn it on, if you want to run it automatically.

You can also change its text color in monitoring tab.

In On-Screen Display, you may find Global On-Screen Display Hotkeys. Here you need to manually put commands on the “None” section. Just put F10, F11 and F12 as below.

After this process, now you can open your game that you want to play and you will find an Overlay popup window on your screen as below.

The main functions of F10, F11 and F12 are as below.
F10: Through F10 you can hide the Overlay on the screen.
F11: Through F11 you can show the Overlay again.
F12: Through F12 you can show or hide the Overlay.
